The Honda EU2200iTC is a compact, highly portable and reliable generator, which was a perfect fit to power our off-grid cabin.

Basically, we use it to run tools and re-charge batteries, which represents the bulk of our power needs. With a 2200 watt output, this small generator will run corded skill saws and chop saws flawlessly, as well as charging batteries for cordless tools. On occasion, it has also run a small chest freezer with no issues at all!

The inverter technology produces clean and stable power, safe for sensitive electronics, and we’ve charged phones and laptops without problem. Recently, we’ve added a portable power supply which is the perfect accompaniment to the generator, but that’s another review altogether…

Besides its portability, the fuel efficiency of this generator has been amazing, and appreciated. As we run the generator on an as needed basis and not full-time, one tank can last for days. Our cabin is 25 stairs and a short walk away from the beach where we land our boat, and the less gas we need to pack up those stairs, the better!

We have been running our current model for over 5 years now without issue. As we do not use the cabin in the winter, the generator sits idle in the cabin for months, but starts up with one or two pulls of the cord each spring when we show up again. And, while I know I should, I don’t do any sort of winter prep for it - not even clear it of gasoline before leaving for the season. It just goes in the cabin as it is, and fires up right away when we get back.

Our cabin is remote: accessible only by water, and about 80 miles away from the nearest road, so the importance of having reliable, fuel efficient machinery is amplified. So far, this Honda generator has fit the bill perfectly. They may cost a bit more than similar products, but my experience would say it’s worth it.
